What is the typical cost of a family photo session?

In the St. Louis and St. Charles County MO area prices can range anywhere from $100 to $1000 per session. There are many variables that are taken into account on pricing, including talent, overhead, and what is specifically included with each session.

What does your family photo session include?

The amount of time of you receive with your photographer is the main factor. Sessions can vary from 30 minutes, to an hour, and even up towards of two to three hours. Your session also includes your photographer’s talent fee. Consider how each and every photographer is unique in their own way and style. After the actual session, the process moves to the editing and processing phase which usually will take more time than the session itself. This is the time where your photographer will spend time viewing every image that was taken during the session and selecting the images that contain the best captured moments and then editing them individually. Depending on the photographer, shoot and edit situation, it can take anywhere from one to 30 minutes to edit a single image. Lastly, you get to the delivery stage of the package, where you will receive a previously agreed upon number of images when you first negotiated the session. This can be anywhere from 10 to 100 or more images, that will be delivered electronically in some format and may also include an album, prints or print credits.

Anytime I work with a client to define a session of time, editing, and image output, it is highly variable as I mentioned above. Right now, our package will include all the session time, talent and images. We will provide up to 75 photos colored enhanced. Bonus, you will get these images in Black & White as well. You will get a link to view them on a proofing website where you can download the images from and share the link with family members. From the website you can also order prints from our professional image lab as well. All of this will be included in the low price of $399, which is a great bargain.
