What is Lifestyle Family Photography?
What makes a session “lifestyle”? Well, to me lifestyle sessions are more focused on capturing you and your family in ways that seem natural with a strong focus connections. In other words, we won’t be carefully placing everyone in stiff poses and saying “cheese!”. Does that mean we won’t get any shots of everyone looking and smiling? NO! I always try to get a few of these because let’s be real – we all love them for the annual Christmas card or a big huge print on the wall!
These types of sessions find a middle ground between typical documentary style photography, and the classic family portrait. The photographer takes on a background, almost transparent role, without interfering, while attempting to preserve those special moments that can only be done through a candid lens. One of the key differences between lifestyle and candid photographs, is how much, or how little involvement the photographer becomes in crafting the scene. These can be taken in your home or on location.
After an exceptional lifestyle photo session, you will end up with some excellent photos that will convey what life is like with that particular family.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE SCHEDULE OUR FAMILY PHOTO SESSION WITH YOU?

The earlier the better! My calendar books up months in advance. If you would like a fall session, contact me in the summer and if you want a spring session, contact me in the winter.

WHAT DO WE WEAR TO OUR FAMILY PHOTO SESSION?

I generally recommend to coordinate colors that go well together, small patterns can be mixed in and accessorize. I do not recommended completely matching outfits (example: white shirts, jeans), stay away from crazy designs & large logos or print. These can be distracting from a photo. Not sure, send me a picture, I am happy to help!

Based on your preferences, we can choose from a variety of beautiful settings in St. Louis or Wentzville—whether it's a scenic park, an urban backdrop, or even the comfort of your home. Together, we’ll select the perfect location to capture your family's unique personality.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS ON THE DAY OF MY FAMILY SHOOT?

Rain can be a hassle! I'll keep an eye on the weather leading up to your family session, stay in touch with you, and make the best call for the day. If we need to reschedule, we'll find a new time that works for you as soon as possible—no worries! St. Louis weather can be unpredictable!
